Local Councillor for Waterfront, Sam Bennett is the Welsh Lib Dem Lead Candidate for Gŵyr Abertawe.

Meet Sam Bennett

Lead candidate Cllr Sam Bennett has represented the Waterfront ward on Swansea Council since 2022. With a background in marketing at local universities, Sam is passionate about education and widening participation. He has also been active in the campaign for justice over the cladding scandal affecting flats and high-rise blocks.

Sam's Priorities for Gŵyr Abertawe include:

  • Extending free childcare
  • Cleaning up our rivers and seas
  • Fighting for economic investment in Swansea including rail electrification to Swansea and building the tidal lagoon
  • Ending the cladding scandal

Our Senedd List

We have 6 candidates standing in the 2026 Senedd Elections for Gŵyr Abertawe, you can find the full list below.

In the new election system, you will have one vote for your Senedd Member, and seats will be allocated based on the share of the vote a party receives. Seats will be allocated in order, with the first seat elected being allocated to the first person on the party's list, and the second to the second person on the list, until all 6 seats are allocated to parties. 

The electoral system being used is “D'Hondt,” and you can find more information about D'Hondt at the Electoral Reform Society
