About Peter

Peter has been the Welsh Liberal Democrats Councillor for Cwmbwrla Ward since 1984. He is a former Lord Mayor and served as a Welsh Assembly Member for 17 years. He is a former Welsh Deputy Minister for Local Government. He moderates the local community Facebook group.

Chris is a former leader of Swansea City Council and Lord Mayor. He has been the Councillor for Cwmbwrla since 1985. Chris continues to be leader of the Opposition on Swansea City Council.

Helen grew up in Stepney Street and attended Cwmbwrla Primary School and then Pentrehafod Comprehensive, and has seen the change delivered to the community by the Cwmbwrla Lib Dem team. Helen lives with her husband Gareth and two sons. She is a school governor and can be found regularly speaking to residents in the community.

About Graham

Graham was first elected to represent Cwmbwrla Ward in 1999. In 2004, when the Lib Dems were in joint control of the Council, Graham joined the Executive as Cabinet Member for Housing and then in 2008 for a further 4 years Cabinet Member for Culture Recreation and Tourism. Graham is also a former Lord Mayor.

20mph Sign Success for Langdon Road

In the last edition of FOCUS we reported that we were continuing to pursue Welsh Government to have 20mph signs added to the Eastern end of Langdon Road. We can confirm, Welsh Government contractors have come and added these signs. The road will not be painted to highlight the 20mph zone as this will become the default speed in Wales in September 2023.

Stopping Parking on Aurora Green

A consistent complaint from residents is summer parking on Aurora Green. £4,000 had been ear- marked by Cllr Bennett to prevent this. Works being undertaken on Aurora means this area will become a builders compound for about a year. As part of the “putting right,” Cllr Bennett’s plans will be done by the builder, at no cost to the tax payer!

Trees to be cut back on Ferrara Square

Residents of Ferrara Square, were becoming increasingly concerned about the overgrown trees around Ferrara Square. Your Lib Dem FOCUS team contacted the Council, who have agreed to get the trees cut back early in 2023 ahead of the growing season.

Overgrown Bushes Cleared

The Footpath on Trawler Road was beginning to become overgrown by bushes and impassable for pedestrians. Having been reported by your FOCUS team, the Marina Office came out and cut them back the very next day! Thank you to the Marina Office team for their swift action.
