“No Allocated Funding” For Road Safety Sign

17 Mar 2023

The Council have replied to the local Liberal Democrats after they had written to the council about broken road safety signs in Gowerton.

The sign that is broken is on the approach to the pedestrian crossing between Glanmorfa
and The Elba, used by children heading to school and those wanting to access The Elba fields. It should display and flash the speed of vehicles. In the reply to the Liberal Democrats the council say “there is no allocated funding for the maintenance or repair of speed signs in Swansea.”

Commenting on the sign, Matt Palmer said: “It is just wrong that the Labour run-council spend our council tax on vanity projects in the city centre or paying back the interest on the city credit cards, but can’t find the money to
repair a safety sign in the village.“ Adding: “This is just another example of the council failing to get the basics right.”

This sign is added to the long list of issues Gowerton is facing with its road network.
