Save the Ospreys
Losing the Ospreys would be a disaster for Swansea and Welsh Rugby. Swansea Bay Lib Dems are standing with the Ospreys, the players, employees and fans calling on the Welsh Rugby Union to stop its damaging plans to reduce to 3 rugby regions.
The Welsh Rugby Union's plans for reducing the number of regions are ill-thought-out and poorly considered.
The removal of the Ospreys would damage Welsh Rugby, and undermine community rugby in Wales's second city. The city's and the surrounding area's economies would be hit hard at a time when they need support.
By any reasonable or fair measure, the Ospreys are a successful professional rugby team, based on international players for the Welsh team, its community outreach, its financial position, and the local Council's commitment to the team.
The WRU should go back to the drawing board and develop plans which support community rugby.
Back our Campaign to Save the Ospreys
We, the undersigned, are calling on the WRU to go back to the drawing board and reconsider their damaging regional rugby proposals. We strongly condemn the WRU’s proposals to reduce the number of professional teams in Wales, and how it will undermine the future of the sport.
